Maike Schönebeck

Maike Schönebeck loves everything haptic. Materials with structures that range from coarse and fine ceramics to glass. She made their sensuality the subject of discussion in her master’s thesis at the art academy in Halle. To this day, the designer’s creations reflect her preferences for surfaces, on which she sets subtle accents through a reduced design language. Comparable to a visual touch, her designs emotionalise and challenge the sense of touch. Her decors for Ritzenhoff are characterised by tactility, which she sometimes creates by using real gold leaf.
