Aldo Cibic
Designer and interior designer in Milan, Italy
Works as a designer and interior architect in Milan. Aldo Cibic also belongs to the greats of Italian design. He became known through his designs for the Fiorucci shops, the Esprit offices and showrooms, as well as for the complete concept for the ERG gas stations in Italy. According to the classical biography, Aldo Cibic collaborated with Ettore Sottsass since the end of the 70s and founded along with him, Marco Zanuso and Matteo Thun, 'sottsass Associati" in 1980. He was co-founder of the avant-garde design group Memphis in 1981, and since 1989 has been worked independently with his Cibic studio. He severed his relations with the overly powerful Memphis group and works today for such clients as Fiat, Standard, Benetton, Artemide and others. The Cibic studio works consistently according to the total design understanding of the Italian School: from urban concepts (for the cities Cecina and Canelli), to architecture and interior architecture, and product design and corporate identity concepts - Cibic's claim is universal, an "integrated total work" always the goal of his work.
